Mary Dimbleby's Report on a successful day at The Spectrum.
This win places K&P 3rd overall after two of the 3 rounds, and a likely place in the top match at the Finals in September.
LILY B MATCH 2 SUTTON 3rd JULY
Another wonderful warm sunny day greeted us at Sutton for the second match of the season,.
The weather and the wonderful team spirit made for a great day with lots of great performances including lots of new PB’s.
Despite the lack of an U17 team, (Maura was our sole competitor) we managed a fantastic
1st PLACE, WELL DONE EVERYONE YOU WERE AMAZING.
Once again it was the willingness of everyone to take in events that they don’t normally do which allowed us to do so well.
Our top scorer was Alex who had 3 individual first places including new PB’s in the 800m and the hammer, a fantastic achievement and well deserved.
In the U13’s Natasha achieved new PB’s in both the 100m and high jump whilst Laura and Caitlin both improved their hurdles times.
Elizabeth set a new best for the 800m whilst Frances did the same in the 1500m.
Issy launched the javelin out to over 12m more than 2m further than her previous best.
There was also a very promising debut from new comer Elle Butcher who competed in the 200m, 800m and Javelin scoring very valuable points for the team.
Not to be left out a number of the U15 also set new best times/distances in their events. Bryony achieved new PB’s for the 100m and long jump (14.2 & 4.27m).
Vanessa improved her high jump to 1.35m whilst Ella lowered her 800m time to 2.41.7
Mae improved her 200m whilst sister Layla set new figures for her 1500m. Perana also set a new PB in the Javelin.
Once again Maura did a great job for the U17 with two seconds and a fourth including a new PB in the discus of 13.79m.
We also had two U11 who took part, they were Niamh Maughan and Mollie O’Sullivan. Niamh acihieved 2.30 in the LJ and 15.4 for the 75m.
Mollie ran a great 600m eventually finishing 2nd in a time of 1.57.9.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, and to the parents and coaches who came to support and helped with the officiating, it really was a great team effort. If we can get a few more people for the next match we could do even better.
