ROSENHEIM – WALTON, 16TH MAY

Kingston’s Men dominated the Western League opposition once again with victory over the home side by 66 points to 51.

Team Manager, Humphrey Waddington, was very glad to welcome some heavy hitters for the Walton match and reaped the dividends. Chris Hall had scoring wins in the Long Jump and 200m and another BAL regular, Andy Wheble also secured a double scoring victory in the Discus and Javelin. Loic Malroux won the High Jump and posted excellent non-scoring marks for Javelin and Long Jump, and Tom Butcher staked a strong claim for BAL consideration with a 100m scoring win followed by a dominant 200m victory and a strong relay lead-off.

Elsewhere, Adam Bellis was a little disappointed with his 400m 3rd place, but ran faster than in the Surreys, while in Middle Distance, Phil Bearman senior and Phil Bearman junior were welcome additions to the team, and ran a strong team effort in the 800m. Elsewhere, Richard Mathie blew the cobwebs away with a solid 2nd place in the 3Km, after a non-scoring 1500m warm-up and we were also very pleased to welcome Ronnie Taylor back to the track and very grateful to him for filling in to win the scoring 2K Steeplechase, followed by an astute tactical 1500m.

There were further good K&P non-scoring performances, with Draco Mkpa, Andy Gordon and Jason Louis Bernard gracing the sprints and BAL star, Nick Owen, reacquainting himself with the Discus. The final win of the night came from the 4x200m relay team of Tom Butcher, Adam Bellis, Loic Malroux and Jason Louis Bernard, who trounced the opposition in style.

Our Women could not quite match the Men. Only Natalie Sacre and Rahannah Gillette-Vernon flew the flag on the night and despite their best efforts, K&P finished well behind Walton in 2nd place. Overall, the Women also lie in 2nd by one League Point, but the Men have already opened up a 3 Point cushion after only 2 matches.

We need to keep the pressure up and could do with a bigger turnout from both teams for the next match at Ewell, June 6th. Come along and join in the fun!
