Jack Petchey Award – November 2012 Nominations

Thanks for all the votes for the October award. It was a close contest, but in the end Mikael Undrom had the upper edge. We have 3 nominations for the final award this year:

Kathryn Bartle
Kathryn had already been a prolific competitor in two previous seasons as U11, and in her first year as U13 has contributed to both the YAL and Lily B teams. In the current winter season she already showed some excellent performances both in cross country and in sportshall. Arguably her best achievement so far was 3rd place in the highly competitive Kingston Borough Cross Country Champs earlier this month, but she also represented Kingston well in the London Youth Games cross country race.

Morrison Cleaver
In his first year in the Club, Morrison ran for both the YAL and Ebbisham League team. Since the start of the winter, he has demonstrated his accomplishments in cross country. He had an excellent race winning the Kingston Borough Champs, and thereafter came 3rd in the Schools Intercounties, helping the Surrey team to win the event.

Alexander Parkinson
Alex started his first competitive season with a high jump bronze medal at the Surrey Indoor Champs. This promised a lot for the outdoor season, and Alex duly delivered, becoming quadruple Club champion for 2012 in 100m, 80m hurdles, high jump and long jump. Not surprisingly, he was a significant contributor to the results of both the YAL and the Ebbisham team, and is now a major player in the sportshall team.

Please send me your votes by Tuesday 27 November. As always, I am also looking for ideas (particularly from our young athletes!) how to make use of the award money (£200 per award) for the benefit of our young members.

Kind regards

Frank
