Ebbisham Report
Match 1 at David
Weir Leisure, Mitcham.
While a couple of teams suffered, as did Kingston in the
U13s, due to the Bank Holiday weekend;
the U13 team of only FOUR
athletes: Sam Bishop, George Rees, Angus Strachan, Louis Churchill managed to
cover 12 out of 18 events and all four managed to stay uninjured so that the
relay was ran in style. While the U15
team of: Jack Le Vesconte, Albert Rowland, Eternal Nemiala, Charlie White,
Dhruv Simmonite, Sam Nesbitt, Luke Incledon, Alfie Westley, Finnian Chang covered
19 out of 20 events.
Our U15 solo 1500m athlete, Sam Nesbitt ran to a convincing
win in 4.34.5 (5 seconds clear.) Dhruv
and Charlie were the 800m and 300m athletes.
Dhruv won the 300m B in 42.1 while Charlie ran the B to record 44.1. Alfie proved consistent with a first of the
season throw in the Javelin to throw 25.02m for 2nd. Jack in the HJ (first season U15) cleared
1.50m and Dhruv 1.40m. A good 200m by
Luke in 27.5 – the sprint times from the other athletes were incredible – and
should not deter our new athletes in this age, as our sprinters will only get stronger
throughout the season.
Our U13 pulled together well and some great individual
performances shone. Louis in the javelin recorded a brilliant 23.76m in his
first competition for 2nd.
Angus Strachan came out as the faster sprinter – 14.3 for the 100m. Sam Bishop was fantastic in the 75m hurdles
and then ran an 800m later. But all
credit to George as well in the sprints.
Two U11s joined us – Thomas Perrin and Adam Claucet (Results
are on the way).
Thanks to Richard White, Ulrike Chang and Pat Logan for
assisting on the day – I heard Richard ran a 200m to the start to ensure that
the correct K and KK were attached to the boys’ shirts. The first meeting for anyone new, seems daunting. But this one is out the way. We finished 4th
against the very strong Herne Hill and South London Teams. And
we will improve.
NEXT EBBISHAM is on SUNDAY 2nd June at Epsom and
Ewell.
