Following  breezy but competitive 2004 meets, the early indications are that, provisionally, possibly five members may be selected for the English Schools at Gateshead in July. The Inter County match at Ashford on June 19 will give a few more the chance of reaching the National Entry standard,on which most selections are based.

County Champions at Kingston included Dominique Blaize(IG LJ-5.98),who also jumped 1.72 & 6.00 at the Bedford International the next day, Claire Stonestreet(IG 200-27.2),Josh Diffley(JB TJ-big pb 12.23),Stuart Price(JB 80H-12.0) & Harriet Lester(JG 75H-11.9ht),with Sarah Harris(IG 300),Rob Smith(SB HT),Matt Field(IB 100H-improving his Club 100H Rec to 14.4 )& Sasha Gordon(SG TJ-big pb 11.26) well in contention. There were a number of pbs in the windy conditions but more details when full results are seen and selections are known. Those eventually selected will not need reminding of the standard set last year by our 4 team members - all four won medals!!! STOP PRESS on 16 June - no official releases until teams are completed early next week but unconfirmed reports suggest Surrey Invites have been received by Sarah Harris & Dominique Blaize(both 'veterans') and,for the first time, by Sasha Gordon, Stuart Price & Harriet Lester - there may be others depending on Inter County fixtures.STOP STOP PRESS At the Middx Champs, there were 5th places & pbs for Luke Wheeler(IB200-23.3) & Douglas Dick(JB200-24.7).
