Congratulations are due to Dominique Blaize on the recognition by UKA of her potential to achieve the highest levels in the sport. This is one step further than the Academy, of which several of our youngsters have been able to take advantage,and offers Dominique personal one-to-one advice on development,training,coaching,nutrition,injury prevention,physiotherapy etc,and a limited amount of Lottery Funding. |

With both teams operating in a higher division after last winter?s campaigns,there was much enthusiasm before the fixtures. The women were off first on the Windmilers/VAC course and the large joint Div 1/Div 2 field of 240 were soon strung out,with Rachel Burbridge holding a top twenty placing after the first of the 2 laps. |

Not quite October but news just in from Germany!! Mark Reed ran a storming 10k in Grimmaer on 25th Sept,just losing top spot but in a nippy 33.01,whilst the day after,wife Catherine completed her first-ever Marathon in Berlin in 3.57.01.
The 16th witnessed the Surrey Vets Champs on Ranelagh's Richmond Park course(organisation in the capable hands of Maurice Joyce) - and it rained! Of the 137 finishers,David Barrington was 120th 51.29 & 13th M60,Mike May was 126th 52.43 & 36th M40,whilst Geoff Reed was 129th 53.16 & 23rd M55. The very next day,6 members contested the first of David Denton's RonHill Surrey Classic 10ks at Nonsuch Park.Out of a field of 283,Graeme Horstead led K&P home in 38th 39.30,then Graham Huntley(M50) 100th 44.48,Dave Gibbons(M50) 148th 48.15,Liz Richardson 150th 48.19,Matthew Hyett 173rd 50.33 & Johanna Gibbons 190th 51.57. Also on the 17th,Nicky Atkins,running in the 26.2 colours,placed 454th in the Cabbage Patch 10m in 77.45. |

Provisionally,the dates and venues for the Mens BAL for Division Four next summer are May 7 Abingdon/June 4 Derby/June 25 Southampton/July 30 Kingsmeadow. Teams will be K&P/Derby/Norwich/Swindon/Southend/Swansea/Medway&Maidstone/plus the newly-merged Team Southampton
Again,provisionally,the Young Athletes League dates will be Sundays,May 8/June 5/June 26/17 July/31 July.It is almost certain that the Division Two levels,into which K&P have moved for 2005,will feature only four fixtures. |
