Congratulations to those club members who have achieved their ESAA Champs ambitions at Gateshead on July 11th/12th. The Club wishes you every success, and looks forward to seeing you and helping you progress in the sport in the future.

For Surrey : Mary Iheke(Holy Cross School,New Malden) in the Senior Girls 400; Tom Parry(St Johns,Leatherhead) at Intermediate Boys 100 Hurdles; and Gordon Lester(St Georges,Weybridge) for the Inter Boys Pole Vault. The Reserve list gives an outside chance to Molly Renfer(Tiffins Girls) at 800,whilst,sadly,it seems unlikely now(June 29th) that William Trimble(Grey Court,Richmond)will be fit enough for an invite into Middlesex's squad.

Results : Heartbreaking for Tom Parry, who ran 13.68 for 3rd in his heat(marginally outside his PB) and missed the Inter Boys 100 Hurdles Final by 1/100th of a second, with 2 athletes on 13.67 qualifying. Also, very disappointing for Gordon Lester(PV),who no heighted.

Splendid news, though, for Mary Iheke, who won her Senior Girls 400m heat in a PB 56.96,then surpassed that with another PB(56.31) to take the silver medal in the Final - another substantial breakthrough, which also improves her own Under 20 Club record, but, more significantly,Alison Parry's 17 year old Open Women's Club Standard of 56.8.
